Notes & journal
Memos
A private timeline for your thoughts. Just type, and it stays yours.
Memos is a simple, fast place to jot down notes, ideas, links and photos as a personal timeline, a bit like a private Twitter for yourself. Find things later by tag, date or search. It runs on your own computer or server, works on your phone in the browser, and can be shared with family or a small team.
Public demo. Don't enter anything private.

What it does
- One of the most-starred personal apps on GitHub
- Markdown, tags, calendar view, attachments
- Webhooks, API and an MCP server, so your AI can work with your notes
- Runs anywhere with one Docker command
Great for: Anyone who wants a private, fast place for notes, journaling or a family noticeboard.
Make it yours: ideas

How easy is it to adapt?
Moderate
Styling and the built-in extension points (custom CSS/JS, webhooks, API, MCP) are easy. Code changes span a Go backend and a React frontend, and API changes need protobuf code generation.
- No code (settings): Light/dark/paper themes and interface language. Restyle Memos or add small behaviours with CSS/JS without forking.
- Extend (themes, plugins, API): Send every new memo to another service (Telegram, Zapier/n8n, a backup script). Create memos from scripts, shortcuts, email or a voice assistant. Let an AI assistant read and write your memos directly through the Model Context Protocol.
- Runs on: hosted-demo, docker, server, local-dev
- Built with: go, typescript
